Mary Beaudet called the meeting to order at 3:30pm and welcomed the group. There were approximately 25 members present. Ms. Beaudet acknowledged and thanked the 2007-2008 Board Members for their service (those leaving the Board: Gary Elias, Leo Vaz, and Barbara Friesner) and announced the new ESCOTA Board:

The issue of cuts to senior services was discussed. Mary Beaudet asked the group to call 311 and ask to speak to the Mayor’s office and tell them you are opposed to the cuts and/or the speed of the cutting of services to the elderly.
Announcements:
The directory has been sent to the printer and should be mailed out shortly.SPOP announced a new Bereavement Support Groups for adults of all ages who have recently lost a spouse or partner are forming. Ten sessions, no fee. For information or to register, please call Barbara Danish 212-787-7120, extension 520.
The Rubin Museum of Art (RMA) is pleased to announce Free Seniors Day, a special initiative to welcome older adults to participate with free admission, guided visits to the galleries, film screenings, and a 10% discount on selected items at the Shop and Café on the first Monday of each month. RMA is open from 11:00am–5pm on Mondays. Admission for seniors is ordinarily $7. The museum offers free admission to all visitors on Friday evenings, 7-10pm. Reservations for group visits are recommended, and private tours of the galleries can be arranged by calling Group Visits at 212-620-5000, ext. 345 or by e-mailing .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
The Dorot program "To Your Health" is an interactive teleconferencing program for older adults, providing information on health and wellness topics and offering support groups for chronic illness. Experts in their field lead each 50-minute phone session to encourage discussion and provide vital information relevant to seniors today. Each session is interactive with participants encouraged to ask questions and share their experiences and concerns. No special phone equipment is needed. Mary Beaudet was thanked for her stewardship of ESCOTA.
